Does PDF417 require the '*' delimiter before and after the string to encode? It seems strange things happen to my barcode if I don't have it in there.

Can you tell us what data you encoded and whether the software is a trial version? There is no such design to use *. Can you elaborate?

I encoded a string similar to the following:

2-321-321324-9453-53234-43242

I'm using the retail version.

I seemed that if I didn't put the delimiter that there would be a strange trailing line of barcode in my crystal report. I can post an example in PDF if you want or I can e-mail it to someone.

Can you tell us the version of the PDF417 Fontware? If it is version 2 the strange line is caused by the 255 text length limit imposed by Crystal Reports.
